The Melissa & Doug wooden abacus places 100 colorful beads in ten rows for counting, grouping, patterns, addition, and subtraction. Sliding each bead gives preschool and early elementary learners a physical way to track quantity, especially when mental math still feels abstract. The solid wooden frame stays upright on a table and withstands regular homeschool use.

Children can count by ones, make groups of five or ten, copy color patterns, or represent simple equations. Although it differs from a traditional Montessori bead frame, it provides an affordable hands-on math manipulative for families who want less paper and more concrete number work.

An affordable classic counting tool for homeschool early math.
