About The Long Childhood

The Long Childhood is a home for families choosing to slow down: homeschooling with intention, living close to nature, and raising kids with real character instead of quick fixes. If a TikTok video brought you here, welcome. This is where those short clips get room to breathe.

Why We Started This

So much parenting content online is either performing for the algorithm or panicking about it. We wanted something steadier: practical homeschool help, honest talk about the hard days, and a plain reminder that childhood does not have to be rushed to be worth something. The team behind this channel believes kids need time, real tools, unstructured play, and parents willing to do the slow, unglamorous work of raising them well. That belief is the whole project, really.

What You'll Find Here

The channel and this site circle the same handful of ideas. Real skills kids learn by doing, not by watching. Curriculum and methods that hold up in an actual household, not just on paper. What a homeschool day looks like when nobody is filming it for a highlight reel. The case for homeschooling itself, made honestly, without putting down families who choose differently. Support for parents doing this without a village nearby. And resources, tools, curricula, programs, worth your time and your money. Some days that shows up as a video. Some days it needs more room than sixty seconds gives, and it lands here instead.

Why This Website Exists

A minute on TikTok is not enough space for most of what is worth saying. The blog is where we slow down and go deeper: curriculum breakdowns, rhythm and routine, the reasoning behind a choice, plain answers to the questions we get asked the most. The resources page collects what we have actually found useful and checked, so you are not digging through old comments trying to remember a link someone mentioned weeks ago.

Come Say Hi

If any of this sounds like your corner of the internet, follow along on TikTok for the day-to-day, and come back to the blog whenever a topic needs more than a minute.
